Recently I had the opportunity to sit on a panel with Ed Smart, father of Elizabeth Smart. The subject covered was about child sex abuse - what to look for to protect our kids and what to do if it does happen. A very common thing we hear is, "I've never told anyone but..." It's sad to know that most of us keep this quiet and live in silence with our pain, shame and blame.
If you have a past hurt, you are not alone and you don't have to carry this shame and pain the rest of your life. There is freedom available - freedom found in forgiveness. But where do you start? Are you alone?
The sad fact is that 1 out of 3 girls and 1 out of 5 boys will be sexually abused before they reach age 18. (1)
Child abuse shows up in one of 4 ways - and about 80% of adults who were abused as children met criteria for at least one psychological disorder. (2)
Verbal / psychological abuse
Watch this video with Ed Smart about the power and freedom in forgiveness. If you are ready to come out of shadows and speak up - me too - and would like help to find your own path to freedom in forgiveness, reach out to us. We can help.
